In 2030, we will no longer be the youth. The city will be different. Different problems, different solutions. A different atmosphere. As a group of young people meeting at TR Warszawa in 2023, we want to leave behind a memory of our story about the city from the here and now. A story as subjective as possible, based on our needs, memories and experiences. Or maybe not the whole story is true? Maybe some of its elements are made up, and some are a joke, a fantasy, a wishful creation of reality? Maybe we don’t even want to distinguish which things we experienced in the city, which on stage, and which in our imagination? But we want to share them all with you, so that you can take them to the year 2030 – if there will ever be such a year.

The performance “2030” is an attempt to capture the city in the process of change and to portray ourselves and each other inside the city. To see who this city is made for and how much of it can be taken for oneself.

The performance is inspired by the documentary “Young Warsaw. Youth Policy of the City of Warsaw”, created by the Office of the City of Warsaw. The following excerpt from the document seems to us to be key: “One gets the impression that the lives of today’s teenagers and adolescents are marked by risks and uncertainties, often as a result of the actions or inactions of adults. Ulrich Beck, known as the creator of the concept of the risk society, when defining risk, points out that it is a consequence of scientific and technological progress, social change, economic change or modernization. Young people are growing up in a world that is constantly changing, trying to cope with emerging challenges, and at the same time worrying about what not only the world, but also the place where they live, will look like in a few years.
