A large part of theatre storage rooms is filled with objects that appeared on stage only for a brief moment. How can one creatively respond to this excess produced by a culture of consumption and create an independent circulation in which what has been deemed worn out is given a second life?
Three performers, each representing a distinct approach to working with instruments—Wojciech Błażejczyk with his objectophones, Emilia Sitarz, who prepares dilapidated pianos and grand pianos, and Paweł Romańczuk, who builds original, often mechanised instruments—reach into theatre storage spaces to show that what we consider waste can become a true treasure, including a sonic one.
The musical trio Błażejczyk, Sitarz and Romańczuk is united by a sensitivity to what is commonly regarded as broken and useless. This sensibility will resonate in a unique, improvised concert performed on unconventional instruments. Through this gesture, we aim to show that even what is treated as refuse can become a source of inspiration.
Trashowisko embodies the ideas of reuse and zero waste put into practice.
