About
A series of mysterious deaths shakes the world of new media. Officer Mirosław Crisis from the Luminous Police is trying to solve this enigma. All traces lead to Robert Robur, a young screenwriter. Meanwhile, in the City of Light the rebellion is about to break out. Members of a sect led by the mysterious Master want to overthrow dictatorship of the Office of Energy. Who’s hiding behind the mysterious crimes? Will darkness win over the light? Who is the author of the “Rage and scream” series?
The last, unfinished novel of Mirosław Nahacz (1984-2007) takes place in a future, where fiction created by media has completely superseded the reality. In the play, sensational action is combined with a vision of a society intoxicated by media messages, which becomes passive and prone to manipulation by the government. The performance directed by Krzysztof Garbaczewski transfers Nahacz’s dystopian novel to the modern world of digital media and virtual reality. What could have been a pure fantasy a decade ago, today becomes a reality. The omnipresent surveillance and control of the network, Internet stars, which fade away as soon as they light up, companies that manipulate information and hackers who steal data – we are living the future invented by writers. Virtual reality technologies create worlds so real, that they can be mistaken for reality. How does this new wonderful world affect a man/woman and his/her relationships with other people? How to put together the two parts of the cracked reality?
For organized post-gymnasium school groups we offer introductory workshops to the performance (please contact the education department: edukacja@trwarszawa.pl for more details).

Reviews
-
“Generation of the 30-year-olds have waited for such a mix of nostalgia and humor, pop-culture kitsch and a ffelinf of unreality.”
-
“Garbaczewski created a wonderfully cheeky and uncompromising performance – surely the most impressive one in his career.”
-
“Robert Robur” (…) has a chance to became a cult performance. And it’s all thanks to a total freedom of the theatrical gesture, sense of humor and a huge dose of camp pleasure resulting from playing with pop culture.”
-
“A dystopic story of a scriptwriter who searches for an escape from the dictatorship of an addictive series is probably the best performance in Garbaczewski’s career.”
