Biography
A graduate of the Leon Schiller National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź (1976). After graduating, she collaborated with directors including Henryk Tomaszewski, Krystian Lupa, and Mikołaj Grabowski at the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theatre in Jelenia Góra and the Jan Kochanowski Theatre in Opole.
Between 1981 and 1988, she was associated with theatres in Poznań, where she created several important roles in productions directed by Janusz Nyczak, including Diana in Fantazy, Masha in Three Sisters, and Marysia in The Wedding. She also appeared in productions created by Janusz Wiśniewski’s Theatre Ensemble, including Illumination (1989) and Life Is a Miracle (1992). She has been associated with TR Warszawa since 1995.
She has been actively involved in numerous independent productions of contemporary Polish drama, appearing in works developed at the Drama Laboratory, including Absinthe by Magda Fertacz directed by Aldona Figura (2005), Agata Is Looking for a Job by Dana Łukasińska directed by Krzysztof Rekowski (2005), and Verklärte Nacht by Michał Bajer at the Drama Studio of the National Theatre in Warsaw, directed by Natalia Korczakowska (2006).
Film audiences know her from productions including Edi directed by Piotr Trzaskalski (2002), My Roasted Chickens directed by Iwona Siekierzyńska (2002), Tomorrow’s Weather directed by Jerzy Stuhr (2003), and films directed by Łukasz Barczyk: I’m Looking at You, Marysia (1999) and Transformations (2003).
Among the distinctions she has received are the award for Best Supporting Actress at the 27th Polish Film Festival in Gdańsk (2002) for her role in My Roasted Chickens directed by Iwona Siekierzyńska, and the award for her role as the Mother in Absinthe at the 47th Kalisz Theatre Meetings.
