Playwriting competition “You will never walk alone”

As part of the new series of events ” Lets talk about”, TR Warszawa announced a playwriting contest called “Nigdy nie będziesz szła sama” (“You will never walk alone”), aimed at stimulating reflection on the issue of women’s rights and abortion among artists, audiences and theatregoers, as well as at creating an impulse for the creation of dramatic texts on women’s rights. As part of the competition, the most valuable and artistically and factually interesting plays were selected, which will be presented in May in the form of performance readings. The readings will be directed by: Olga Ciężkowska, Tomasz Fryzeł and Karolina Szczypek awarded as part of the TR Debut 2021. Each play will be presented twice. It will be possible to see them for the second time on the last weekend of May, from 27 to 29, as part of the competition readings finale.

After reading nine texts submitted to the second stage of the Drama Contest “You Will Never You Will Never Walk Alone’, the jury including Sylwia Chutnik, Natalia Kalita, Roman Pawłowski, Klementyna Suchanow, Weronika Szczawińska decided that the following texts were qualified for the final stage of the competition:

Daria Kubisiak, author of the drama “Displaced” for finding an honest theatrical form for an intimate experience connected with sexual violence. The reading of the drama “Displaced”, directed by Olga Ciężkowska, will take place on 20 and 27 May 2022 at 19:00 at TR Warszawa/Marszałkowska 8.

Agnieszka Nasierowska, author of the drama “The Big Bang” for her linguistically radical and grotesque portrayal of Polish reality in the context of the fight for the right to abortion. “The Big Bang” in the form of a performative reading directed by Karolina Szczypek will be presented on the stage of TR Warszawa/Marszałkowska 8 on 7 and 29 May 2022 at 19:00.

Marcin Miętus, author of the drama “Boy-Żeleński Support Group” for his self-ironic attempt to find a male perspective on contemporary female problems. The reading of the drama, directed by Tomasz Fryzeł, will take place on 13 and 28 May, at 19:00 at TR Warszawa/Marszałkowska 8.
