Biography
Actor at TR Warszawa. A graduate of the State Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw (now the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw).
He made his stage debut in 1997 as Wojtek Chrońc Sobuścyn in Śleboda, directed by Waldemar Śmigasiewicz at the Zygmunt Hübner Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw. After graduating, he was associated with Teatr Rozmaitości (now TR Warszawa) from 1997 to 2001, where he appeared in productions including The Dog’s Testament directed by Piotr Cieplak (1997), Dog directed by Bożena Suchocka-Kozakiewicz (1998), Snake Skin directed by Piotr Cieplak (1998), Words of God directed by Piotr Tomaszuk (1998), and Hamlet directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski (1999).
Between 2001 and 2010, he was a member of the ensemble of the Zygmunt Hübner Powszechny Theatre, where he performed in productions such as King Lear (2005) and The Italian Straw Hat (2001), both directed by Piotr Cieplak; The Shape of Things (2002) and White Marriage (2003) directed by Grzegorz Wiśniewski; Return to the Desert directed by Anna Augustynowicz (2004); and Pornography (2008) and Pocket Atlas of Women (2009) directed by Waldemar Śmigasiewicz. He also made guest appearances at the Ateneum Theatre in Warsaw, the Edmund Wierciński Contemporary Theatre in Wrocław, Teatr Wierszalin in Supraśl, and TR Warszawa.
Since 2010, he has once again been a member of the ensemble of TR Warszawa. At TR Warszawa, he has appeared in productions including We’re Fine Between Us directed by Grzegorz Jarzyna (co-produced with Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz, 2009), Solaris. Report directed by Natalia Korczakowska (2009), The Unfaithful directed by Artur Urbański (2010), Nosferatu directed by Grzegorz Jarzyna (2011), The Bat directed by Kornél Mundruczó (2012), The Second Woman directed by Grzegorz Jarzyna (2014), Ewelina’s Crying (2015) and Fantasy (2017) directed by Anna Karasińska, The Lake directed by Yana Ross (2016), and Other People directed by Grzegorz Jarzyna (2019).
He has created many acclaimed roles for Television Theatre, collaborating with directors including Zbigniew Zapasiewicz, Jan Englert, Izabella Cywińska, Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, Waldemar Krzystek, Krystyna Janda, Łukasz Barczyk, Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz, Piotr Łazarkiewicz, Marcin Wrona, Jan Komasa, Bodo Kox, Krzysztof Czeczot, and Krzysztof Lang. He has also appeared in more than eighty productions for Polish Radio Theatre.
His film work includes roles in Chopin. He is the recipient of many awards and distinctions, including awards at the 3rd Festival of Contemporary Drama in Zabrze and the Feliks Warszawski Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Shape of Things (2003), the award at the 3rd Festival of Premieres in Bydgoszcz for Return to the Desert (2004), the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Award (2005) for his roles in The Italian Straw Hat and Memoir of the Warsaw Uprising, the Grand Prix at the “Two Theatres” Festival in Sopot for Golgota Wrocławska, the award at the 16th National Competition for the Staging of Contemporary Polish Drama for We’re Fine Between Us (2010), the Grand Prix for acting in The Bat at the 53rd Kalisz Theatre Meetings, and the Polish Film Award “Eagle” for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Christening. Together with Rafał Maćkowiak, Maria Maj, and Ewelina Pankowska-Kalisz, he also received the Acting Award at the 2016 Kalisz Theatre Meetings for the ensemble performance in Ewelina’s Crying.
