About the performance

Farewells are difficult, but we have to set sail. Leave our room, our parents, our school behind. But where do we go? There is no wind, no direction. All that remains of home is a roof we drift upon, a few photographs, memories, emotions — the things that are good, we take with us.

We drift. Someone sings. Someone makes sure we don’t drift away from one another. Someone knows how to make the others laugh when no one has the strength left. Someone tries to manage this whole drifting.

What will the world we reach be like? Does such a world even exist yet? How do we find the strength to set a course? Our only hope is that we are in this together.

Growing up is an endless series of farewells: to childhood, to home, to the way we imagine ourselves and our own future. In today’s world, it also means saying goodbye to a sense of stability and security, and to the belief in a better future.

DRYF is a performance created by students of the Stanisław Noakowski Technical School of Architecture and Construction in Warsaw as part of the “TISZ TR 2024–2026” project.

DRYF is the voice of those who have not yet arrived anywhere, but have already drifted away from everything they knew. It is a story about grief, sensitivity and hope; about the fear of the future and about searching for the strength to step into it anyway.
